By AIIP External Communications Committee
Recipients of AIIP’s annual awards were announced on April 20th during the AIIP 2024 Symposium held in St. Louis, Missouri, a hybrid event featuring in-person programs and concurrent sessions for virtual attendees. AIIP Immediate Past President Janel Kinlaw presented awards to AIIP members who embrace and promote the values of the association, and the Roger Summit Lecture Award recipient was recognized. AIIP thanks Awards Nominating Committee members Arthur Weiss and Michele Bate for guiding the process. More information about each award is available on the AIIP Awards page.
Marilyn M. Levine President’s Award – given at the recommendation of the association’s President in recognition of a person or institution demonstrating extraordinary support of AIIP’s objectives.
Award Recipient: Susan Baerwald
Susan’s approach to the AIIP Membership Director role has been to provide a welcoming environment and facilitate member connections with AIIP. She has worked with the Website and External Communications Committees to review public website pages and the membership sign-up process. Susan has been willing to try new ideas and approaches to support recruitment and retention of AIIP members. She listens to all concerns and comes back with suggestions on the next steps. In addition to her Board duties, Susan served as Local Arrangements chair for the AIIP 2024 Symposium, being the primary liaison with hotel staff for various hospitality requirements for the event.
Roger Summit Conference Sponsorship – promotes awareness of the benefits of attending the annual conference and supports an AIIP member who has not previously attended an in-person AIIP annual conference.
Award Recipient: Marj Atkinson
Marj started her business in 2019 and has been a member of AIIP for several years but had not previously attended an AIIP in-person annual event.
Sue Rugge Memorial Award – presented to a full AIIP member who has significantly helped another member or members through formal or informal mentoring.
Award Recipient: Udo Hohlfeld
Udo has been a mentor to many AIIP members. He not only offers his time but prepares and plans very strategically for those relationships so that he can personalize his help to each member. He offers strategy and metrics for those relationships to be successful. In addition to being a mentor, Udo has been a volunteer on the Peer-to-Peer Committee.
Congratulations to our 2024 award recipients!
