Every 25-30 years, a new technology emerges that transforms infopreneurship. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, online databases such as Dialog, LexisNexis, and CompuServe emerged. Twenty-five years later, in the late 1990s, the Internet, particularly the World Wide Web, transformed the landscape – and to be successful, infopreneurs had to become proficient in web searching, social media, and more. Today, as we approach 2025, infopreneurs need to upskill again – this time to become experts in the emerging AI marketplace.

OpenAI deal is said to be worth about $250 million to News Corp. for certain content rights over five years.  Similar recent deals include those with Associated Press, Conde’ Nast, LeMonde and Dotdash Meredith.)

Generative AI: A Valuable Ally for Infopreneurs?

I have viewed the emergence of general-purpose generative AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Google Bard, etc.) with both trepidation and curiosity. Ever since the HAL 9000 uttered the immortal response “I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that” in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, we humans have been leery of the power of artificial intelligence. But I am finding that there are some situations in which generative AI can serve as a useful assistant.
